Me too though there seems to be the thought that if its a TOS ship it has to look like it's actually been filmed in the 1960's. That's why I like guys who put there own spin on it. Makes it fresh and shows how far ahead these designs actually are.
I noticed that about the "remastered" series. They just replaced the scenes with CGI, without changing the movements, the camera angles, or anything else. I found that seriously annoying.
I would love it if they made a new series set in TOS's timeline, but made the flyby and action sequences dynamic. They actually did that (somewhat) in the Mirror Universe episodes in Enterprise, with the Defiant. I would also like to see ships like the Dreadnoughts in action.
Has anyone ever made an accurate mesh of the U.S.S. Star Empire? It was a TOS ship made by a militaristic faction of Starfleet in the Diane Carey novel, "Dreadnought!". It was based heavily on the Dreadnought's design.
