Pathfinder by KillaBC Pathfinder by KillaBC
The USS Enterprise-D was the result of the ongoing technological advancements Starfleet had made since the commissioning the USS Excelsior. Whilst it wasn't the marvel that many had hoped for it was the most capable Exploration starship at its disposal. The Enterprise-D would go on to become one of the most iconic vessels in the Federations history.

Back into the Star Trek fold I wanted to make something with the Galaxy Class. It also pressed me into the foray of making planets in 3ds max. After a few attempts to get the Texture to look good close up it pretty much fell into place. I also now have the Vray plugin for max which I used to light the Galaxy. It creates an awesome light set up and renders much quicker.

In fact, the ship looks much better than bacground. It could be much better when you try to set the lights to be much more similiar with the background. Anyway good job :-)

The lighting does match I assure you, it's one of my pet peeves if it doesn't. The purple on the ship is the blending of the Warp Engines and the Impulse drive. The contrast of Orange and blue is because the the Sun gives off a slight orange whilst the Blue is coming off from the background nebula. The ambient light that lights up the rest of the ship is coming from the planets. ;) . Thanks for the compliments! Sorry if I went on a bit but a love a well lighted scene and the background has to compliment that. :)

I want just say that the lighting on the ship looks awsome, the background is for me just nice. I never see better render fo galaxy class, so i think that close up shot only on ship on stars background will be epic. Retrospectivly, i could find a better words from start.
