Science by KillaBC Science by KillaBC
Nothing said 'serious science' like two of Starfleets heavy hitters joined together on the edge of known space. The newly christened Hamilton System is been scanned for valuable resources and it's prospects for a colony. The most likely candidate is Planet-MHS-25 with a breathable atmosphere and gravity equivilant to 0.87 G. Also it is in geo-stationary orbit with a Gas Giant making it easy for the transport of Gas to the planet for processing.

I had a go at lighting something in Mental ray today and It gave quite a nice natural light to it. With a bit of post processing it started looking much better that what results I got with the scanline. So it looks like more mental ray experimentation for the foreseeable future.

Wouldn't  the gas giant give off huge amounts of radiation due to its magnetosphere making life on the planet impossible just a thought.

Not necessarily. The Earth-like moon in all probability has a liquid iron core of its own, producing a magnetic field of its own, and deflecting the gas giant's radiation. It would have a whopping great set of van Allen Belts, and Auroral activity would be constant, but, particularly in the non-polar regions, you'd likely have very little radiation.

Ya now that I think about that it makes good sense though space travel would be kind of hard though.
